After completing his degrees in Commerce and Law from the University of Mumbai and becoming a member of The Institute of Company Secretaries of India in 1987, Mr. Kamat embarked on his corporate career in the fields of secretarial and legal affairs. Over the past four decades he has gained extensive experience in legal affairs across diverse sectors, including electronics, petrochemicals, logistics, financial services, renewables, automotive manufacturing and defense. In his initial stage of career, Mr. Kamat was involved in setting up renewable projects, land & aircraft acquisitions, managing contract and litigation management. He recently superannuated from Tata Motors in March 2024, after a distinguished 25-year tenure with the Tata Group.
During his tenure at Tata Motors, Mr. Kamat took on a leadership role in spearheading numerous
domestic and international projects. He was strategically chosen to helm critical initiatives in
managing business risks and to play a pivotal role in domestic and overseas restructuring, acquisitions,
and cross-border transactions across more than 50 countries. He played the key role in modernizing
and streamlining compliance practices within the Tata Motors Group significantly enhanced
operational efficiency across 125 units including all manufacturing facilities, depots, sales offices,
warehouses, domestic & overseas subsidiaries and corporate offices of Tata Motors Group.
Additionally, he made substantial contributions to developing robust policies and procedures for
manufacturing plants both domestically and in overseas subsidiaries
